Have you heard of dye sub printing before, but you didn’t know what it was or what it could be used for?  More and more custom garment designers are finding out about the power of dye sub printing, so if you haven’t heard of it yet, you should stick around to find out what all the fuss is about.  The biggest reason why dye sub t-shirt printing is growing in popularity is that it allows you to customize clothing with spectacular images that other methods couldn’t get close to matching!

Dye sub printing, which is short for dye sublimation printing, is a method of printing that binds heat reactive dyes to a substrate permanently.  Originally this process was used for paper printing however someone had the bright idea of applying it to the world of garment customization.  All you need is a high resolution digital image and then you can print it out of a sublimation printer that is loaded with those special dyes.  The image is printed onto a transfer sheet and then you can heat press that to the garment to apply the design.  Using a heat press, the dyes on the sheet vaporize while the pressure forces the dyes to permanently infuse into the material below.
