With this technique you are not limited to colors or style. The shirt, however, must be white and 100% polyester. This will make the colors bright and vibrant. T shirt for sublimation printing can get you full coverage on the entire shirt. We can even print over the seams. The image that you choose must be high resolution and scaled large. When we size the art it should not be blurry when we go to print it.

Custom Sublimation T Shirts

So first, let’s understand the process behind sublimation printing.  The first step is high resolution digital artwork because it will be printed digitally from a sublimation printer onto a heat transfer sheet.  The sublimation printer uses special heat reactive dyes that will convert from a solid to a gas when subjected to high temperatures.  The transfer sheet containing the artwork will then be placed onto the blank fabric in preparation for the transfer.  Together, the transfer and the fabric will be heat pressed for a brief period which will enable the dyes to vaporize and be absorbed by the material below.  That’s all it takes to apply a sublimated print!

If you aren’t familiar with the process, dye sublimation is a type of digital printing that uses a special heat reactive dye to transfer gorgeous designs onto fabrics in a snap.  What happens is the artwork gets printed from a sublimation printer loaded with the special dyes onto a heat transfer paper.  The transfer sheet, which now contains the artwork, is then placed onto the garment to be printed and together they are put into a heat press.  The heat press causes the dyes on the sheet to sublimate and infuse into the very fibers of the garment.  Just like that you have a beautiful print that is permanently bound to the garment.

If you think your custom garment designs are too complicated for typical screen printing and you don’t what to do to get them applied, then you may want to consider dye sublimation printing.  It sounds like a science fiction option, but it’s very real and it’s very powerful.  Dye sublimation printing allows you to print virtually any image you want, even photographs, because it uses the advancements of modern technology to create a picture-perfect replication of your artwork onto fabric!

So how does it all work?  It’s actually rather simple but it requires special equipment, namely a sublimation printer and heat press, before you can start producing sublimation designs.  You first take your digital artwork and print it out of the sublimation printer onto a transfer sheet and then you only need to heat press the sheet to the garment and you’re finished!  It’s a brief process but the results aren’t because your prints will last the lifetime of the garment without cracking or peeling.  Dye sublimation works differently than many other printing methods that lay an ink onto the surface of a garment because it actually binds with the material you’re printing during the transfer process.  That means you can wash and wear your designs as much as you want without it fading or chipping.

Technology has transformed the capabilities of every industry it has touched and the custom garment industry is no exception.  One of the marvels of modern technology that has impacted custom apparel is sublimation printing.  If you’ve never heard of it, that’s understandable because it’s one of those things that you see all the time but never notice until someone points it out.  Dye sublimation printing is in use all around the globe in countless retail stores because it’s a quick and reliable way of applying virtually any design you want!

So how does it all work?  Why is it so powerful?  Well, the biggest factor is that you first print the artwork out using a sublimation printer and it is done digitally so you can get perfect image reproduction from your original art.  The image is applied to a transfer sheet with special heat reactive sublimation dyes so all that you need to do after that is heat press the transfer to the blank garment.  The heat causes the dyes to vaporize and the pressure forces the dyes to permanently bind to the fabric below so that you get a permanent hold in one simple step.  It takes only a couple of minutes, but it will last until the fabric falls apart!
